About Our District:

Sweet Home ISD is a Pre-K through 8th grade district located in Lavaca County between Hallettsville and Yoakum. Upon completion of their studies at Sweet Home School, students typically transfer to either Yoakum High School or Hallettsville High School. Sweet Home ISD was rated an Exemplary District by the Texas Education Agency for the 2006-2007 school year. The district has an average enrollment of 115 students with approximately 15% Hispanic and 85% Anglo students. There are currently ten instructional staff members and eleven support staff members. The school calendar runs from August through May and is closely aligned with the Yoakum ISD calendar to accommodate the majority of families in the Sweet Home District who have children attending Yoakum High School. Sweet Home ISD offers a variety of special programs including Pre-K, After-School Care, Dyslexia Services, Reading Intervention Programs, Math Intervention Programs, Gifted and Talented, Accelerated Reader, English as a Second Language, Special Education, and extra-curricular sports including: volleyball, flag football, basketball, track, and softball. The district also offers an after-school tutoring program and a summer program of learning on an as-needed basis. The Sweet Home Parent Teacher Organization is very active throughout the year and has several fundraisers throughout the school year to support instructional programs and a scholarship program for graduates of Sweet Home School.
