Reading Language Arts Resources

Beginning in the 2024-2025 school year, Sweet Home has been awarded grant monies to implement the state's highly-qualified Reading Language Arts curriculum in Kindergarten through 8th grade.

The Amplify Texas Literacy Program is built on the Science of Reading. Every day in grades K-2, students will complete 1 full lesson that builds foundational reading skills as well as 1 full lesson that builds background knowledge, In grades 3-5, students start to master the skills of reading. Through complex read-alouds that emphasize classroom interactivity, oral comprehension, and contextual vocabulary, students build awareness of the world around them. Through daily practice, students become aware of the connection between reading and writing, building confidence as they learn. Eventually, lessons begin to combine skills and knowledge with increasingly complex texts, close reading, and a greater writing emphasis.

With Texas Amplify, students make connections year by year:

Students grow from week to week...and year to year…

An infographic shows how students learn about plants, farms, and seasons in Kindergarten, and ecology and geology in later grades.

Below you can find a chart listing the foundational skills that will be taught each year:
